About Matthew Walsh

Matthew Walsh is a furniture maker, educator, and owner of Rosewood Studio School of Fine Woodworking in Perth, Ontario. After nearly 14 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, Matthew began his woodworking career in general carpentry before turning his attention to the precision and creativity of fine furniture making.

Today, he shares his knowledge and experience with woodworkers of all skill levels, emphasizing sound techniques, thoughtful design, and the satisfaction that comes from creating something well by hand. Established in 2002, Rosewood Studio offers hands-on woodworking courses ranging from introductory workshops to intensive multi-week programs. Its small-class approach gives students the opportunity to learn directly from accomplished furniture makers in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Matthew’s practical teaching style and genuine enthusiasm for the craft encourage students to build their skills, confidence, and appreciation for fine woodworking.
