About Lara Finley

ara Finley is a Toronto-based wood artist, furniture maker and the founder of Her Rough Hands. A graduate of Sheridan College’s Furniture Design program and recipient of the Mayor’s Award, Lara has spent nearly 20 years creating fine furniture, custom built-ins and meaningful pieces for her clients.

Her work combines artistry, functionality and a passion for sustainability, often transforming reclaimed materials into beautifully crafted furniture. Lara has appeared as an expert furniture maker on Discovery Channel’s Junk Raiders 3, and her work has been featured in exhibitions across North America.

Through her work and teaching, Lara hopes to inspire others—especially women and young people—to discover the confidence, creativity and satisfaction that woodworking can provide. Her motto says it perfectly: “Empowerment through power tools.”
