Steven Der-Garabedian has been woodworking since the early 1990’s and runs Black Walnut Studio, a fine furniture workshop in Mississauga, Ontario. He started with self-taught skills and eventually completed his formal training in woodworking at Rosewood Studio, where he studied under several masters of the industry. While at Rosewood, Steve was bitten by the teaching bug and continues to do so through the Lee Valley Seminar Program, his own shop and at various other workshops in and around the Greater Toronto Area. He teaches a practical style of woodworking where the initial rough work is done with power tools and then refined with hand tools. Steve is a contributing writer for Canadian Woodworking and Home Improvement Magazine and when time permits he continues to design and build one-of-a-kind furniture via commission. You can contact Steve as well as see his blog and some work at blackwalnutstudio.ca.
